Rich Green Bean Casserole

This one is more rich because of the bacon, cheese and cream. You can always
use milk if you want to keep the fat and calorie count down, and you can omit
the bacon and the cheese.
Ingredients:
1 lb bag of frozen
French style green beans OR two 14-1/2 oz cans
drained
1 can cream of mushroom soup - 10 3/4
ounces
3/4 cup of heavy cream or half &
half
1 cup of French-fried
onions 6 strips of cooked, crumbled
bacon
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2 tsp of garlic powder
salt and pepper to taste
1 more cup of French-fried onions (see TIP
below)
1/2 cup almond
slices

TIP: If you are not
crazy about french fried onions, use Panko crumbs mixed with a little parmesan cheese. OR, you can put one in the
casserole and use the other for toppings.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees
F.
Combine the first eight ingredients (everything but
the extra fried onions and almonds) in a greased or non-stick sprayed 1-1/2 quart casserole dish. Bake the
casserole for 20 to 25 minutes. Combine the almonds and the additional French-fried onions (or Panko crumbs).
Remove the casserole and sprinkle the topping on it. You can get fancy and make a design or just scatter them
evenly. Put the casserole back into the oven for an additional 5-10 minutes - just until the topping is golden. Be
careful to watch during these last minutes because you will be greatly disappointed if your rich green bean
casserole burns on the top (or, shall we say, toppings).
